Doug and kathy Johns have enjoyed shooting food and beverages for over 30 years, and it only seems like a little bit. kathy takes the role of producer and works with their clients from the start of each project that they take on. Her attention to detail and professional approach to this business is essential to the images that they produce. Doug handles the photography, set and prop building along with the digital component of their work. They work together on prop styling and set design. Along with their golden, Truman, they work in their 6,000 square foot, fully equipped studio in Saint Petersburg, Florida

Advertising photography can be art,
if you just think about it.

I’m not a food blogger. I’m not the flavor of the month, and I don’t work out of my car. I am someone who longs to make beauty, who is passionate about food, life and photography and I have worked to that end for the most of these last forty years. Now that’s not to say that I am older, I can still work circles around most people…but there is something that comes with all those years, and I get a lot out of sharing it with the people we work with.

We all want to make pretty pictures, but there are times when even the best intentions get beat by the challenges of the subject, and in food and beverage photography this is particularly true. That’s where experience and that hard earned expertise comes in. And although I may not be the most hip shooter out there, there’s not too much I haven’t seen and you can be sure that I will bring everything that I have to each shoot, and I think that’s worth something.

Oh, and I’ll let you choose the music.
